Order Cutoff Feasibility

Check whether an order fits before the daily cutoff once the queue already ahead of it is counted, not just the order alone.

How this works

An order taken today can only ship today if it fits in the remaining time before the daily cutoff, but that remaining time is not free, whatever is already queued ahead of it competes for the same window first. This engine counts the queue, not just the order alone.

Key terms

  • Required hours: the queue already ahead of the order plus the order itself, divided by the processing rate.
  • Rollover risk: how many hours short (or how much slack) the order has against the remaining time until cutoff.

Assumptions

  • One uniform processing rate for the whole remaining window

Limitations

Worked example

At a 5pm cutoff, it is currently 3pm, two hours remain. A 50-unit order alone only needs half an hour at 100 units/hour, an order-only check would approve it. But 180 units are already queued ahead of it, 2.3 hours of total work against 2 hours remaining, the order actually misses cutoff by 0.3 hours once the queue is counted.

Common use cases

  • Checking a same-day order promise against the real remaining capacity, not just the order size
  • Continuing from Rush Order Acceptance's decision into a same-day cutoff check
